Herbal Medicine

Herbal Medicine is a very versatile, holistic approach which combines medical sciences, plant medicine research, clinical experience and traditional herbal knowledge to promote health, and to prevent and treat disease. The individual needs of the patient are considered before a unique prescription is formulated, utilising a combination of plant extracts; the prescription may be accompanied by nutritional and lifestyle advice where appropriate.

Why is Herbal Medicine good for Health and Wellbeing?

Herbal Medicine aims to treat the underlying cause rather than just the symptoms in order to bring the body back to balance. Almost anyone who is unwell can benefit from Herbal Medicine, particularly people with multiple health needs, because the person is treated as a whole. A Medical Herbalist is able to safely treat people of all ages including babies and children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those on prescription medicines.

Did you know?

The World Health Organisation estimates 80% of the world’s population depends on herbal medicines for primary healthcare.

Around 25% of all pharmaceutical drugs currently prescribed were originally derived from plants.
