Massage & Bodywork

Massage is the treatment and practice of soft tissue manipulation.

Why is Therapeutic Massage good for Injury Rehabilitation?

Therapeutic massage is a holistic, intuitive treatment that aids the body's innate healing powers. In dealing with injuries, specific problem areas are focused on, whether they are muscules, tendons, ligaments, skin joints or other connective tissues, as well as lymphatic and/or organs of the gastointestinal system.

Massage can quickly and effectively solve many fairly minor injuries and greatly speed recovery from more serious injuries when combined with other therapies.  Massage can help with:

  • Back, neck and shoulder problems
  • Muscle tension and stiffness
  • RSIs and other overuse injuries
  • Sciatica and Piriformis Syndrome
  • Sports injuries, strains and sprains
  • Whiplash (post-acute)

Why is Soft Tissue Therapy good for Injury Rehabilitation?

Soft Tissue Therapy offers a hands on approach to your musculoskeletal health. It can be defined as the methodical manipulation of muscles and other soft tissues for the relief of discomfort and tension using pressure and friction.

People who present with their complaint are assessed via the most appropriate tests according to the person’s presentation. This may include posture, biomechanical, range of movement, neural and other tests that help identify the most likely cause of pain or injury.

Many techniques are used to reduce pain, enhance performance, improve range of movement and aid recovery. This multidisciplinary approach looks at hands on manual techniques, stretching, exercise prescription and functional taping, with appropriate advice to follow so that you can achieve the best results possible from your treatments.

Depending on the pain or injury, a number of modalities may be utilised. Most commonly the techniques will be hands on massage type techniques.
